IoT-based Taxis Are Now Here, Thanks to Telkomsel and Bluebird

As an effort in nationwide improvement and acceleration, Telkomsel keeps on moving forward, strengthens its commitment in digitalizing various industries with IoT implementation. This time, Telkomsel fulfills its commitment once again by cultivating a collaboration with Bluebird, through the integration of the latest IoT technology to Bluebird’s vehicle fleet. The collaboration made official through Letter of Agreement signing on August 26, 2019, Jakarta.

Telkomsel CEO Emma Sri Martini stated, “Telkomsel is proud to invent IoT-based innovative solutions in the transportation industry, namely Bluebird. Telkomsel’s IoT implementation to Bluebird’s digital ecosystem shows how big our commitment is in supporting the government’s Making Indonesia 4.0 vision.”

In its collaboration with Bluebird, Telkomsel offers IoT Control Center, a safe and reliable cloud-based IoT device management platform. IoT Control Center gives customers full asset visibility and safety, ensuring the reliability of connected services, device usage optimization, and cost predictability.

IoT Control Center has the ability to fully improve an IoT ecosystem through every connected device under Bluebird’s network. One of them is Bluebird’s IoT, which becomes a solution replacement to Fleety, a 2G-based metering and order management system in Bluebird’s vehicle fleet.

Supported by Telkomsel 4G LTE, Bluebird’s IoT devices take the role of a multifunctional computer system attached to every vehicle on their fleet, with GPS, driver-to-passenger and driver-to-headquarters communication device, metering, billing and order management system included. These devices can also receive data about vehicle condition and send the information straight to Bluebird’s application system.

PT Blue Bird Tbk. CEO Noni Purnomo expressed, “With many obtainable benefits, Bluebird hopes the Telkomsel-supported IoT becomes a solution to accelerate our productivity and performance, helping us to give more value in our services. We believe that this collaboration is not only just about operational efficiency, but also gives a positive impact on the transportation industry through passenger service, driver, and vehicle quality improvements.”

Supported by Telkomsel IoT Control Center, Bluebird’s IoT ecosystem is targeted to be implemented on 10.000 vehicle units by December 31, 2019, and 25.000 vehicle units by the second quarter of 2020. Apart from transforming Bluebird’s operational activities, Telkomsel also provides special access that is UMB (USSD Menu Browser) made specifically for Bluebird drivers to top up Telkomsel data packages.

“Providing comprehensive, sustainable digital solution and service is a part of Telkomsel’s commitment in accelerating Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. We hope this collaboration between Telkomsel and Bluebird will become an inspiration for the other industries to be a part of Indonesia’s Industry 4.0,” said Emma.
