How Your Business Can Be a Part of Indonesia’s Future Plans

Earlier this year, the Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia (Bappenas) announced five nationwide priorities in the Government Work Plan (RKP) 2020. As a part of Industry 4.0’s growth in Indonesia, this could be a good chance for businesses to take a bigger role. With government support, both IoT providers and users can use these plans to build momentum to reach business and government goals.

National Development and Poverty Alleviation

This part emphasizes on ways to increase Indonesia’s life qualities and overcoming the global finance and technology changes, which are two of Indonesia’s biggest challenges. Fortunately, at the same time, finance technology is also rising in Indonesia. For example, Telkomsel IoT Control Center’s implementation on OVO’s EDC devices which can now use Internet and Corporate APN. The use of IoT in the FinTech sector can also enable small, local enterprises to run their businesses easier and more effective, helping the government’s plan to equalize regional economy.

Infrastructure and Region Distribution

In 2020, Indonesia has a goal to expand the infrastructure in prioritized cities in order to prevent disasters and support economic growth. As the population continues to move toward cities in the coming years, municipalities will have to deal with increasing population pressures. To overcome this challenge, they can build a connected public infrastructure (Smart City) in order to run cities and improve life quality for residents. Implementing Smart City infrastructure solutions like smart streetlights, vehicle sensors, or even getting houses/buildings in order can really fulfill the government’s infrastructure goals.

Real Sector and Industrialization

The point of this plan is to improve the value of investments, export, local components, and employments in various industry sectors. With the presence of IoT, existing industries don’t need to think deeply about how they can increase their business value. As an example, let’s talk about IoT in logistics industries. To improve connectivity and productivity, they can utilize Telkomsel FleetSight to improve fleet movement, get insight and professional services. Using IoT, just about every machine will have intelligence and communicate with each other. Therefore, agriculture, maritime, tourism, digital/creative economy, even transportation stand to be more productive.

Food, Water, Energy, and Environment Endurance

Indonesia surely has a huge range of soils across the nation. However, in order to cultivate a stable food amount, the productive economy’s basic needs to be fulfilled. This can be done by automating the farming processes. A good example would be Habibi Garden, a precision farming device that allows farmers to “communicate” with their crops. Utilizing Nb-IoT’s sensors, they can take a deeper look at their conditions and collect information to help them increase productivity and reduce crop failures.

Defense and Security Stability

One of the prioritized cities, Jakarta, has a high crime rate with approximately 32,000 crimesreported last year. To prevent this number from getting higher, Jakarta can increase the use of surveillance cameras to lower criminal incidents. With certain technological advancements like IoT, these cameras can also monitor traffic, observe industrial processes, even detect anomalous events like thefts on the streets.

Indonesia is clearly planning for a better future and with the help of IoT your business will be capable of fulfilling the vision. The question now, is your business industry 4.0 ready?
